As an acronym for `Dynamic Queries for document based, personal information spaces` it started in year 2005 as a research project funded by the `Foundation for innovation Rhineland-Palatinate`. The goal was to build an inquiry system to explore textual information spaces, supporting the user with the search paradigm 'orienteering'. The result was a desktop search engine which is still innovative and unique nowadays, in year 2021.
